Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark took being snubbed from the U.S. Olympic nationwide ladies’s basketball staff roster in stride on Sunday.
She spoke to reporters at follow and made her first remarks about not being on the 2024 staff. She mentioned being left off the roster simply provides to the motivation to compete to make it in 2028.

“I’m excited for the ladies who’re on the staff. I do know it’s probably the most aggressive staff on the earth and I do know it may’ve gone both approach – me being on the staff, me not being on the staff,” she mentioned, through The Athletic. “So, I’m excited for them. I’m going to be rooting them on to win gold. I used to be a child that grew up watching the Olympics. So, yeah, it’ll be enjoyable to observe them.
“No disappointment. I feel it simply offers you one thing to work for. That’s a dream. Hopefully, someday I will be there. I feel it’s just a bit extra motivation. You keep in mind that. And hopefully in 4 years, when 4 years comes again round, I will be there.”

Clark mentioned she was trying ahead to taking a little bit break to get her physique prepared for the stretch run of the WNBA season.
Clark was the No. 1 decide of the WNBA Draft in April after main Iowa to back-to-back nationwide championship video games and setting the mark for all-time scoring in faculty basketball. She was unable to attend nationwide coaching camp in Cleveland after she was invited as a result of Iowa was within the Ultimate 4.
During the last two years, Clark has drawn hundreds of thousands of recent followers to the sport. The Iowa-South Carolina nationwide championship was the most-watched ladies’s faculty basketball recreation and her video games with the Fever are among the many prime in WNBA rankings this season, to not point out the fan assist she’s acquired at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and elsewhere.
