Woodridge, Brisbane home fireplace: Mom and son tragically die

A mom and her disabled son have tragically perished in a home fireplace.  

The 2-storey dwelling on Cypress Avenue in Woodridge, in Brisbane’s south, was totally ablaze when fireplace crews arrived at about 6pm on Sunday. 

A girl in her 80s and a disabled man in his 60s, believed to be her son, have been declared useless on the scene after being found inside. 

Queensland Police Appearing Inspector Mark Procter stated the reason for the hearth was being investigated by detectives. 

Police should not treating the blaze as suspicious.

A Queensland Fireplace and Emergency companies spokesman stated the hearth was introduced underneath management by three crews at about 6.30pm. 

‘Three crews arrived on the scene at 6.15pm,’ he stated. 

‘Fireplace was underneath management at 6.30pm. The home was properly concerned.’

Police have requested anybody with details about the hearth to return ahead as their investigations proceed.
