Connor Backyard-Bachop, a New Zealand rugby star who performed for the Highlanders and the Māori All Blacks, died Monday after a “medical occasion,” officers stated. He was 25.
Backyard-Bachop was at a relative’s dwelling in Fendalton, New Zealand, when he suffered the incident, Christchurch police stated.

“The dying shouldn’t be being handled as suspicious and can be referred to the coroner,” police stated.
The All Blacks launched a press release on Backyard-Bachop as effectively.
“The home of rugby laments the passing of one among its sons who graced the enjoying fields,” the workforce stated.
“It’s with nice unhappiness that we acknowledge the passing of Connor Backyard-Bachop yesterday. He can be remembered as dynamic younger participant and standard teammate amongst the Māori All Blacks, Highlanders and Wellington.

Backyard-Bachop competed for the Highlanders in Tremendous Rugby since 2021. He made 30 appearances for the membership and scored 30 factors. He made two appearances for the All Blacks in 2022.
“Connor was a unbelievable younger participant, an thrilling New Zealand age-grade consultant and a proud Māori All Black,” New Zealand Rugby stated in a press release. “Wherever he performed, he was a dedicated and standard teammate with infectious power and somebody who may mild up the room.
