US Soccer says gamers had been focused by ‘racist feedback’ after loss to Panama in Copa América

The U.S. Soccer Federation stated Thursday a number of of its gamers had been subjected to “racist feedback” on-line after the USMNT’s loss to Panama in a Copa América match in Atlanta.

“U.S. Soccer is conscious of and deeply disturbed by the racist feedback made on-line and directed at a number of of our Males’s Nationwide Group gamers following tonight’s match,” the assertion posted to X stated.

“There’s completely no place within the sport for such hateful and discriminatory habits. These actions should not solely unacceptable but in addition opposite to the values of respect and inclusivity that we uphold as a corporation. U.S. Soccer stands firmly towards racism in all kinds and can proceed to assist our gamers.” 

The assertion adopted a tough evening for the U.S.

“Our group works constantly towards the evolution of a brand new tradition that eradicates expressions of racism, offensive content material on social media and all types of violence or discrimination,” CONMEBOL stated in an announcement. “We condemn attitudes of intolerance in each place and each time, particularly these hiding behind social media accounts.”
