A senior Met Police firearms inspector has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
The arrest of the officer reportedly came about in entrance of his colleagues at a firearms coaching base in Gravesend, Kent, and has despatched ‘shockwaves’ via the unit.
The offences are alleged to have taken place over a ten 12 months interval between 2013 and 2023.
The inspector, who is claimed to be nearing retirement, has been bailed till September and has been suspended from obligation.
He’s a member of Scotland Yard’s specialist MO19 firearms command which offers with terrorist threats and supplies an armed response throughout London.

The Met Police has knowledgeable police watchdog the Unbiased Workplace for Police Conduct (IOPC) in regards to the arrest.
A Met spokesperson stated: ‘A serving Met officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape and different offences.
‘The officer, an inspector within the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command, was arrested on Monday, 24 June.
‘The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2013 and 2023.
‘He was bailed to return in mid-September, pending additional enquiries.
‘He has been suspended from obligation.’
A spokesperson for the IOPC stated: ‘We obtained a compulsory conduct referral from the Metropolitan Police Service on 26 June 2024 following the arrest earlier that week of a Met officer on suspicion of a number of offences.
‘After fastidiously contemplating the referral we determined, given the officer has already been arrested and interviewed by the Met’s Directorate of Skilled Requirements, that the Met ought to proceed with its investigation.’
