Jonathan Owens‘ day job will not hold him from watching Simone Biles in her return to the Olympics … the gymnastics star revealed Sunday the Bears are giving her husband time without work to see her in France.
Owens had been slated to report for Chicago coaching camp on July 19 … after which play within the workforce’s Corridor of Fame Recreation towards the Texans on Aug. 1. However, with Biles formally qualifying for the Paris video games on the U.S. Olympic Trials over the weekend, the gymnast advised USA TODAY these plans are more likely to change.
“The Bears are literally granting him a pair days off from coaching camp, so he’ll be there, sure,” Biles stated. “For only a brief little time.”
Biles and the remainder of the ladies’s U.S. gymnastics squad are slated to take the ground in Paris on July 28 … and end up a few week later — which means if Chicago does, certainly, dole out some excused absences for Owens, he’ll should miss chunk of their preseason work.
It is clearly a cool gesture from the NFL franchise … particularly contemplating Owens — who signed a two-year, $4.75 million cope with the Bears this offseason — did not get to see Biles reside at her final journey to the Olympics in 2021 in Tokyo attributable to COVID rules.
Biles and Owens started courting in 2020 … and in 2023, they tied the knot.

On Sunday, she reiterated how cool it’s once they get the possibility to see one another compete … explaining, “Anytime we will present up for each other in assist, we simply get tremendous excited as a result of our schedules do not align that a lot.”
